Sudan: Deadly Attack on Humanitarian Convoys in North Darfur
By: Charilogone Editorial StaffThe conflict in Sudan continues to escalate, with a new attack targeting humanitarian aid. On June 2, 2025, drones belonging to the Sudanese army militia struck United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) convoys in the Al-Koma area of North Darfur. According to initial estimates from the Sudanese Relief and Humanitarian Operations Agency (SARO), this attack killed four people, injured two others, and led to the total destruction of seven convoys.
These convoys were carrying food and medicine intended for the people of Darfur, who have been severely affected by the conflict. However, they were held for more than 15 days in the Dabba region by the Sudanese army's intelligence services, delaying their delivery to the most vulnerable areas.
The attack on these convoys is part of a strategy to block humanitarian aid, preventing civilians from receiving essential resources for their survival. This situation is exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Darfur, where thousands of people are suffering from famine and lack access to medical care.
As the conflict in Sudan continues, attacks on humanitarian aid raise serious concerns regarding compliance with international law and the protection of civilians. The international community is called upon to respond to these violations and ensure safe access to populations in distress.
