PNEUMOCOCCAL and ANTIROTAVIRUS Vaccines in Chad

The Awareness Project for the Introduction of PNEUMOCOCCAL and ANTIROTAVIRUS Vaccines in Chad is launched

The Ministry of Public Health and Prevention and collaboration with Action for the Protection of Children's Rights (APDE) officially was launched on June 11, 2024 in N'Djamena, the awareness project for the introduction of vaccines against PCV and Antirotavirus in children aged zero to 5 years.

Mr. MAHAMAT Abdraman Djibrine DABARY of APDE in his speech indicates “pneumococcus and rotavirus are pathogens responsible for numerous infections in young children. The pneumococcal vaccine prevents respiratory infections such as pneumonia, meningitis and diarrhea while the rotavirus vaccine protects against severe gastroenteritis. According to the latter “these diseases continue to pose a serious threat to the health of children”.

Note that the project in question aims to protect children from zero to 5 years old against potentially fatal diseases, strengthening the health of communities and achieving Chad's vision on the national health development plan.
