Interview: Me BEBNONE BONGORO Théophile, president of the PRET party

Interview: "[...] I have the misfortune of having in front of me elders who make politics a job and as such, we must put the little one who is slowly but surely on the rise, in difficulty by creating a little in its ranks of crises…” says Me BEBNONE BONGORO Théophile, national president of the Party for Rally and Equity in Chad (PRET).

Political life in a period of transition, the preparations for the Inclusive National Dialogue, the political health of the PRET and the removal of the national administrative secretary...are the subjects on the menu of this exclusive interview that the leader of the Party for Rally and Equity in Chad PRET, granted to our Magazine Charilogone.

Me BEBNONE BONGORO Théophile, national president of the Party for Rally and Equity in Chad (PRET) and National Transition Advisor (CNT)
Hello Mr. President, tell us what reading do you make of the socio-political situation in this time of transition?

Me B Bongor Théophile: We reflected on what happened in not taking the plunge. This is how we wanted to be present in the organizing committee of the inclusive national dialogue CODNI and also take our place where people believe that we can be present in the national transition council.

Being in these two positions and what had allowed us to evolve, to study, to observe that this choice was well made. Well done because, if we were completely outside, we couldn't know certain things. As soon as they decide on our parents.
The condition in which even the power was transferred fell outside the mold of what is legal. This is what made the security imperative take precedence over legality because the constitutional dolphin renounced his prerogatives, so it was necessary to invent something for Chad to move forward and not don't disappear with his refusal.

Some of our brothers, good and bad, have chosen badly and chosen well, we have come to terms with how to appreciate it and we are drawing the consequences because we are going to be asked for a sort of state assessment. Here the team has set to work, today we are a few days away from the inclusive national dialogue.
This inclusive national dialogue cannot take place without the angry brothers. To be angry for me is to be in conflict with the law because, when you take a weapon, you are in conflict with the law. When you take a gun to be able to shoot people, you become illegal citizens because you are in rebellion when you are seen, you must be treated as such.

So the transitional government made efforts to be able to grant amnesty to some and those who were not judged in this decision-making body which was restrictive because they were barely three hundred, four hundred people and the When the time comes, they will benefit from grace.
Now, the worry they are experiencing, despite the tranquility that has been maintained since April 20, 2021 to today with the security situation at our borders which has been effective.

At the internal level, I think that the State has slowed down a little in some of our regions and countryside, which has caused what happened in Abéché, Sandana and many other provinces. Because you know that these outbreaks are multiplying, and the first omerta on all the remains. Which means that there were inevitably abuses, numerous abuses that did not reach us.

Because you people in the press, we need the information. It was first of all you who provided us with the raw material to allow us to either give our position, be a fact for the government or sound the alarm because politics is a whole, we must not leave that alone to people of human rights.

As we want the well-being of the population, currently what harms their lives, which slows down public freedoms must be noted in order to be stated, this is the role of information that we want. This is, in summary, what might appear to be my impression of what the life of the nation is like today.

Within your political party, recent news indicates that one of the PRET executives has been removed, tell us the reason for this removal?

Me B Bongor Théophile: You are certainly aware that a serious political group of this name does not need to be burdened with the presence of executives who often use their positions to work in their personal promotion. It's unfortunate to talk about things like that. I could have told you that it’s a growing pain because the party I lead is growing quickly.

If you want in three years, there are some of our elders who have lived thirty years who have not had our journey, because in three years, we were facing the most influential members of the opposition, we must to tighten our necks to the point of imposing ourselves as the only opposition candidate. Choose unique in Central Africa. Even though it ended up a bit in the queue of fish, it still did its job not to say that it was a milestone to the point that we have assets on our balance sheet to keep.

So where does it come from that there is a desire to be able to immediately access jobs with the aim of having an improved financial situation?

The gentleman in question, a member of a prominent liberal profession, must not have a hidden agenda to be able to benefit from another job because there is nothing better than being in this body where you are not held strongly to reserve like the civil servant. You speak as you want, it's not given to everyone.

And without forgetting the aspect of living conditions, not to mention material conditions, if you do your job well. There you have it, all of us, managers, notaries, lawyers, bailiffs and various experts at the court of appeal are governed by the same requirements and also have on the one hand the same possibilities of being able to make money as a tenant account of the ethics and professional conduct of our profession.

So, this is what normally means that the desire for a position at the political level should not infiltrate much more into our affairs.

So, I'm not giving you proof of what I'm saying, but it's almost logical that this is it. I think it's something general in the parties, and even in the basic documents where it is simply written that resignation is free, just like membership.

Do we necessarily need to put or install, or bring a crisis in a party to leave, that's what pleased the choice of the national political office which met in a disciplinary council in an extraordinary manner where unanimously of 15 members present having satisfied the corrome decided to exclude him with prosecution even normally.

It's true that he has our documents, because in reality his position is not as important as he presents it. He is a national archivist. We do not have a General Secretary position here. But he appears in the columns of the press but no, he is a national administrative secretary.

This means that he centralizes all the documents of the base up to today's date and the statutes, he is a national archivist. So the only obligation he has is to summarize everything he receives weekly, monthly, quarterly and so on, according to the calendar which governs the activities of political parties.

We knew precisely that this is the period where he would have to work in terms of the report to be presented at each meeting, to decide on a two-week periodicity which we call the statutory meetings of the national political bureau where we come without an agenda.

Did he not have a platform to be able to express what he went to do?

With all these possibilities, do we strongly need to invite the press, without having exhausted the exchanges at the internal level to take advantage of the party as it has done? and it is bad timing because we are at a time when, it is true, political activities are in a period of latency.

But, we are one of the prominent political groups because in our ranks, we do not have embezzlers of public funds, because it is generally the somewhat free people who feed the party with a large contingent of teachers. People free to think, free to speak. So, we wanted to build a little around these entities, our political formation, thinking that it could really make a splash.

So, it surprised us that what could be said internally was brought into the public arena, when it was someone who determined all our documentation, who had to write down each of our activities. But it was later noticed that the party had no memory, and it has been almost three months since it suspended its participation.

We have advisors within the office who approached him, and who did not give us a positive result. We were surprised like everyone else last weekend that he could invite the press to say things that are actually untruths.

We are not in a hurry to answer him because we are responsible. But, since the day before yesterday, we have already started with the measure that was necessary because it is nothing other than betrayal. Treason simply because he not only disclosed certain things from the office but he assigned untruths. But what is criminal is to have asked for the dissolution of the political party.

Do we need an element like the one that drives political life? So you need the press in the public square because we are either boosted by someone who is in a bit of difficulty on earth. where we hunt. We do not hide, in politics everyone first takes their fiefdom at home and I have the misfortune to have in front of me elders who make politics a job and as such, we must put the little one who is in the process to climb slowly but surely in difficulty while creating a few crises in his ranks.

That’s a bit like it, the path that was initiated is therefore a promising one. We have the tests and it will come because we will go through a dose.

Public opinion has been surprised by recent departures. What is behind these resignations of members of the party's executive office?

Mr. B.Bongor Théophile: Listen to me, I think a little like you too, let's not be afraid to talk about transhumance. In other states, laws have been passed. In Senegal for example, you cannot spend five to ten years in three different political parties.

It is a business for the executives because it comes, pretends to be imposing, behind them an entire electorate and sells this illusion to the adversary on the basis of false promises sometimes and if it is lucky enough to be facing someone who was born financially equipped on the other side, we are outright buying a defection to weaken you.

There are many other categories, which is the banking category, which come with the idea of being able to take the side and sell it because in fact, it is a commodity. Thirdly, it’s the adventurers who come to see what you’re doing with two options. Stay to put yourself in trouble and haggle the party.

We don't get up one morning to think about putting a political party in difficulty because we are on a mission, because we have studied a lot, because we have a taste for money, because we have probabilities, greatness, no it's not like that.

We have provided in our texts a right of appeal where if he files his request, in two months we can respond to him.
