Sudan: Alleged Use of Chemical Explosives in El-Jaili

By: Charilogone Editorial Staff On December 6, 2023, north of Khartoum, more precisely in El-Jaili, a video reportedly revealed the presence of a barrel of yellow chemical explosives attached to a large missile rod. These weapons were allegedly used by the Sudanese army and its Islamist militias in bombings targeting Sudanese civilians as part of the war against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). If these accusations are proven, the use of chemical explosives against civilians would constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law, likely to be classified as a war crime. Human rights organizations are closely monitoring these events and may call for investigations to establish the responsibilities of the parties involved. The situation in El-Jaili is part of an escalating conflict in Sudan, where bombings and clashes between rival factions continue to endanger civilian lives. There is an urgent need for international mediation and a thorough investigation into these allegations to ensure the protection of vulnerable populations and prevent further atrocities.
