Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Budapest, Hungary, on April 3, 2025, defying the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). Welcomed overnight by Hungarian Defense Minister Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky, he began an official visit lasting several days. This visit, his first to Europe since the warrant was issued in November 2024, began with a military ceremony at the Presidential Palace, followed by a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart, Viktor Orban.

The agenda includes bilateral discussions and a joint press conference scheduled for noon. Netanyahu also plans to visit the Holocaust Memorial in Budapest. This trip aims to strengthen ties with Hungary, a staunch ally, and pave the way for the normalization of his future travel to countries where he is not at risk of arrest. Despite international criticism, Viktor Orban called the ICC arrest warrant "shameful" and reaffirmed his support for Netanyahu.
