  • Sudan, Plagued by a Persistent War and Challenges to Peace

    By: Charilogone Editorial Staff

The conflict in Sudan continues to claim numerous civilian lives, exacerbated by the army's intransigence. The army persists in its confrontational policy and refuses to resume peace negotiations with its adversary, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The search for a peaceful solution and the return of Sudanese people forced to flee their country appear to be seriously hampered by the army's stance. In response, regional organizations such as the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union are working to convince the parties to the conflict to end hostilities. These efforts are in line with the Sudanese Initiative (Tasees), which proposes a vision of a new Sudan governed by civilians.

On the international stage, major powers, notably the United States, are firmly calling for an immediate return to civilian rule. Washington also emphasizes the urgency of ending the fighting, resuming peace negotiations, and ensuring access to humanitarian aid for internally displaced persons. The situation remains tense, and the need for a peaceful solution is increasingly pressing to prevent further suffering for the affected populations.
