Omani government announces release of ship “Galaxy Leader”

The statement noted that they were "transferred from Sanaa to the Omani capital, Muscat, aboard a Royal Air Force of Oman aircraft, in preparation for their return to their country."
The Sultanate of Oman appreciated the cooperation shown by the parties concerned in completing and facilitating this process.
The official Omani News Agency reported that Hans Grundberg, the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen, expressed his thanks to the Sultanate of Oman for its tireless and persistent efforts to free the crew of the ship "Galaxy Leader” and his constant support in this area.
Grundberg stressed that the release of the crew of the Galaxy ship is good news, as it represents a step in the right direction, calling on the Ansar Allah (Houthis) group to continue these positive steps on all issues.
Grundberg stressed that these measures are necessary to create a space for mediation that will in the long term facilitate the resumption of the Yemeni political process, long awaited by millions of Yemenis.
The ship “Galaxy Leader” has been immobilized in Yemen since November 19, 2023.
