Is Decentralization in Chad in Danger

Is Decentralization in Chad in Danger?
    By: The Charilogone Editorial Team

Senator Pahimi Padacké Albert, President of the RNDT-Le Réveil (National Democratic Union) and representative of local authorities in the Senate, took a major initiative by filing two petitions with the Administrative Court on Thursday, April 10, 2025. These petitions seek to challenge Circular No. 003 of March 27, 2025, issued by the Minister of Territorial Administration. According to the senator, this circular violates the Constitution and the law on autonomous communities.

Believing that this measure seriously compromises the decentralization process in Chad, which is still fragile and marked by electoral irregularities, Pahimi Padacké Albert calls for the immediate suspension and annulment of this circular. He emphasizes the importance of protecting the autonomy of local authorities, a key pillar of the country's democratic development.

While awaiting the court's decision, the senator calls on citizens to remain vigilant and actively defend the rights of local authorities. This case could well become a decisive turning point for the future of decentralization in Chad.
