Dr MOUN-GOSS Noudjoutobaye, resident doctor in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, Morocco.
Hello Doctor and please introduce yourself to our readers
Thank you, my name is Dr MOUN-GOSS Noudjoutobaye, resident doctor in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, Morocco.

As a health professional, tell us, what is a vaccination record?
The vaccination record is a document in which all vaccines received by a third person are recorded. The healthcare professional who vaccinates specifies in the record: the name of the vaccine, the date of injection, the batch number on the label, the dose administered as well as the date of the next vaccine.

It is given free of charge after vaccination, generally at birth when the baby receives his first vaccine. Furthermore, there are also international vaccination cards which can be collected in international vaccination centers, in our context (in Chad) this is precisely for major endemics.

How important is it to have a vaccination record?
Firstly, the vaccination record is a document which provides proof of knowing which vaccines you have received. It must be kept well and presented at each appointment for the next vaccination.
Secondly, it can also be used as an additional travel document, especially when it comes to compulsory vaccinations required in certain countries before entry.

Why is it important to keep children's vaccination records?
The vaccination card does not only concern children but adults too. It is important to keep it throughout your life because it contains medical information necessary for monitoring the child until the age of majority, that is to say 18 years old. Thanks to it, the health professional (general practitioners, specialist doctors, midwives, nurses) can check whether the child has received the obligatory or recommended vaccines and whether boosters are necessary.
