Ethiopian Airlines and Etihad Airways signed a strategic commercial agreement today in Addis Ababa aimed at strengthening air transport ties and promoting collaboration.
The agreement was signed by Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, on behalf of Ethiopian Airlines, and Antonoaldo Neves, on behalf of Etihad Airways.
The agreement aims to enhance travel options for customers through a codeshare service between the two airlines and the launch of direct flights between Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi. Ethiopian Airlines will begin flights from Addis Ababa to Abu Dhabi starting July 8, 2025, while Etihad Airways will launch direct flights from Abu Dhabi to Addis Ababa starting September 21, 2020.
The signing ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Yilma Merdasa, Group Chairman of Ethiopian Airlines, Mohamed Ali, Chairman of Etihad Airways, and senior executives from both airlines, according to airline sources.
The partnership includes the launch of Ethiopian Airlines' Addis Ababa-Abu Dhabi route and Etihad Airways' Abu Dhabi-Addis Ababa service, marking a significant milestone in expanding connectivity between Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates.
