Sudan: RSF welcome humanitarian conferenceMessage: “Rapid Support Forces
The Rapid Support Forces welcome the launch of the work of the high-level humanitarian conference to support the people of Sudan, in cooperation between the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the United Arab Emirates and the participation of the United Nations, as well as a number of countries and international regional organizations.
We declare our full support for this important event, as the conference takes place on the sidelines of the Thirty-Eighth African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, and aims to attract necessary support and funding for humanitarian efforts in Sudan. We highly appreciate the international and regional efforts and support to shed light on the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in our country following the repercussions of the war unleashed by the army and remnants of the former regime on April 15, 2023.
Sudan faces a number of humanitarian challenges that require greater interaction and attention from partners and organizations working in the humanitarian field, and we consider the activities of the Addis Ababa conference today to be an important opportunity to strengthen solidarity and cooperation in the area of humanitarian challenges in our country.
We reaffirm the full cooperation of our forces with all efforts and contributions to this conference. We also express our thanks and gratitude to all partners from brotherly and friendly countries, the United Nations organizations, the African Union and IGAD, and we welcome the support announced by the United Arab Emirates in the amount of $200 million to address the humanitarian needs in Sudan, in addition to the $15 million donated by Ethiopia and $1 million from the Republic of Kenya.
We look forward to providing support and care to affected people, displaced people, refugees and local communities affected by critical humanitarian situations. We also call for strengthening joint efforts to face all challenges.
We affirm the confidence of our forces that the humanitarian conference will effectively contribute to improving the humanitarian situation at this delicate juncture in the history of our country, and we congratulate the participants for its work, and we commit to respond to the recommendations and implement everything that will reduce the suffering of the Sudanese people."
