Israel’s first official diplomatic visit to Somaliland marks a historic turning point in relations between the two countries. At the invitation of Somaliland’s President, Cabdiraxmaan Cirro, Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Saar, emphasized the “great privilege” of this visit, describing it as a symbol of a shared commitment to actively strengthening bilateral ties.

The discussions held in Hargeisa with the president and several members of the government covered all aspects of relations between Israel and Somaliland, in a spirit of cooperation and mutual interest. Mr. Saar stressed that mutual recognition and the establishment of diplomatic relations are not directed against any country, reaffirming that Israel remains fully sovereign in choosing its diplomatic partners.

For his part, the President of Somaliland accepted the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and will soon undertake an official visit to Israel. This dynamic opens a new diplomatic chapter, carrying strategic implications for the region and offering unprecedented prospects for both nations.
