Statement on the Destruction of Al-Marsi
Statement on the Destruction of Al-Marsi
Neighborhood - Shambat, North of Shambat Bridge
In continuation of the de facto government's policies in Port Sudan, which include demolishing citizens' homes and uprooting their rights, without providing any housing alternatives that preserve the dignity of Sudanese citizens, practices of exclusion and marginalization against members of vulnerable communities continue without prior warning or the slightest respect for civil rights, and without regard for international human rights laws and the United Nations Charter.
This attack occurred despite the fact that the majority of Al-Marsi neighborhood residents are mobilized with the army and regular forces, fighting in the so-called "War of Dignity," which has brought Sudanese citizens nothing but humiliation and loss of dignity.
We, the Al-Kanabi Conference Center, condemn and denounce in the strongest terms these unjust violations targeting the citizens of marginalized Sudan. We affirm that they represent a clear violation of human rights principles and embody the de facto government's lack of justice and vision in its treatment of marginalized and vulnerable groups.
We call on international and regional organizations, as well as Sudanese civil society organizations, to take urgent action to pressure the government to stop targeting Sudan's vast marginalized communities and ensure the protection of citizens' rights and dignity.
