Statement on the Imposition of European Sanctions and Accountability for Perpetrators of Racial CrimesThe Kanabi Conference in Sudan extends its sincere greetings and appreciation to the European Union for its decision to impose sanctions on individuals and entities involved in gross human rights violations in Sudan, including crimes of killing, incitement to hatred, and systematic targeting of civilians based on race and identity.
This step represents an important moral and legal stance in the path toward holding perpetrators accountable, and sends a clear message that impunity is no longer acceptable for crimes that amount to crimes against humanity under international humanitarian law and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
