During his State Visit to Ankara, President Bola Tinubu announced a renewed momentum in relations between Nigeria and Turkey. Both countries have agreed to accelerate their cooperation in key sectors such as trade, energy, and defence, with the aim of boosting employment, attracting greater investment, and strengthening shared prosperity. Tinubu highlighted the joint objective of raising bilateral trade to $5 billion, a significant milestone for both economies.

To achieve this goal, a Joint Economy and Trade Committee has been established. Its mission will be to oversee the implementation of agreements, encourage new investors, and support industrial growth, technology transfer, and increased private‑sector participation.

The agreements signed cover a wide range of areas, including defence, education, media cooperation, diaspora policy, trade facilitation, social development, and institutional collaboration. This marks a strategic deepening of ties between Abuja and Ankara.
