Israel Recovers Tzvika Feldman's Body After 43 Years: A Promise Kept
By: Charilogone Editorial StaffDuring the cabinet meeting on May 10, 2025, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a historic breakthrough: after 43 years, the body of Sergeant First Class Tzvika Feldman, who disappeared during the Battle of Sultan Yacoub in 1982, was repatriated to Israel thanks to a daring operation led by the Mossad and the IDF.
Tzvika Feldman, a soldier in the Armored Corps, had been missing since the Battle of Sultan Yacoub, alongside his comrades Zecharia Baumel and Yehuda Katz. For decades, Israel conducted an intensive search for these fallen soldiers.
Netanyahu reiterated that he had approved numerous covert operations to locate the missing and reunite them with their families. He highlighted the commitment of the IDF, Mossad and ISA, who worked tirelessly to accomplish this mission.
During his announcement, the Prime Minister shared an emotional moment with Feldman's family, including his sister Anat and brothers Shlomi and Itzik. He recalled the promise made to their now-deceased parents, Avraham and Pnina, to bring their son back to Israel.
Netanyahu affirmed that efforts would continue to locate Yehuda Katz, as well as all Israeli hostages and missing persons. He expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister's Office Coordinator for Hostages and Missing Persons, Brigadier General (Res.) Gal Hirsch, for his outstanding work.
This operation marks a moral and strategic victory for Israel, reaffirming its commitment to its soldiers and their families. As Netanyahu quoted the prophet Jeremiah: "They will return from the land of the enemy... and your children will return to their own border." Israel continues to make efforts to repatriate all of its missing, demonstrating the country's commitment to honoring its commitments to its citizens and fallen heroes.
