  • Geneva Validates the RSF: Humanitarianism or Strategic Cynicism

By: Charilogone Editorial Staff – July 2025

Palais des Nations, Geneva – July 2025: With the diplomatic spotlight focused on the 59th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC 59), a singular and unexpected voice echoed through the corridors of the Palais des Nations. The peace organization expressed strong support for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), recognizing them as a strategic bulwark against human trafficking networks and illegal immigration on the triangular borders of Sudan, Libya, and Egypt.

    RSF: Controversial, but Effective Forces?

In a climate of widespread security disintegration in Sudan, this stance raises questions and raises eyebrows. The RSF, often criticized for their role in internal clashes, are presented here as guarantors of fragile regional stability, slowing the deployment of traffickers in neglected border areas.

A dialogue for peace, but under what conditions?

The Organization also welcomed the Council's initiative to initiate prior consultations for the protection of civilians, including a variety of stakeholders from the Sudanese conflict. These consultations are seen as an opportunity for political reconstruction, where human rights and humanitarian aid could finally converge toward a credible solution.

Between diplomatic pragmatism and the truth on the ground. But in Geneva, observers remain cautious. While the RSF is recognized for its migratory flow control operations, its methods, legitimacy, and internal alliances continue to be questioned. Peace cannot be achieved without truth and inclusivity.
